Mike welcomed me to the braille community when I started at the ClearVision Library, for which I’ll always be grateful, and he unfailingly had a cheerful and encouraging word to say whenever we met. It’s clear that his charisma and enthusiasm for life had a huge impact on all who knew him, and that his legacy will be a considerable one. Condolences and best wishes to Edith and the rest of the family, and his friends and colleagues at Torch, from all at ClearVision.

When I worked at Through the Roof I was always struck by Mike's kindness and generous encouragement to us all in the organisation. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. I send my love to, and prayers for Édith and all the family.

During our early years setting up Through the Roof, Mike was a fountain of wisdom and encouragement - plus many hours of fun and rejoicing. What a great and inspiring friend!

I have been and will go on being inspired by Mike's dedication, faithfulness and determination. We worked together through RNIB and then Torch - his resilience and deep faith was evident and I'm incredibly grateful for his example of commitment, service and friendship.

My life has been truly blessed by knowing you. You have inspired, taught and changed so many lives.

Mike was a man of many gifts who will be greatly missed. My memories of him are all happy ones. My experience of him was that he was someone whose deep faith in Jesus was matched with an infectious love of life. He was indeed a good and faithful servant whom I will always remember with joy.

I will always remember Mike & Edith's welcome during my Careforce volunteer year at the Manor House. Winter evenings by the fire place, where all were welcome in the living room, with guide dog Vanda taking poll position in front of the fire... Mike will leave a big gap but much inspiration too. Thoughts & prayers for Edith especially over the next weeks & months.

We in KABB Norway have good memories from meeting Mike many times back in the 1980s - we remember him as a happy man always smiling and positive. Thank you Mike for your contribution to the work among blind people.

Despite my newness to Torch, I feel this is a huge loss in terms of heritage, in the sense that Mike carried so much by way of first-hand knowledge of the life of Torch over the last 60 years or so.
